Mount WuTai ranks first among the four famous Buddhist mountains in China. It is called "Golden Wutai" and is the dojo of Manjushri.  In June 2009, Mount Wutai was listed as a World Cultural Heritage.

In the eleventh year of Yongping in the Eastern Han Dynasty (68 years), Buddhism was introduced to Mount WuTai. Because there was a stupa of King Ashoka in the mountain very early, and Mount WuTai was also the place where Manjushri Bodhisattva performed and lived. People build temples here.

Another symbol of the formation of the Wutai Mountain Buddhist Holy Land in the Tang Dynasty is the infinite admiration and competition of foreign Buddhists to WuTai Mountain. The Tang Dynasty had a prosperous economy, strong national power, and high international reputation. It was the center of economic and cultural exchanges among Asian countries. With the expansion of international exchanges, Mount Wutai is also admired by Buddhists in India, Japan, North Korea, Sri Lanka and other countries. There are many foreign monks who worship Wutai Mountain and ask for Buddhist scriptures and Dharma in Wutai Mountain.

Mount WuTai is the only Buddhist dojo in China where the Qing Temple (Han Buddhism) and the Huang Temple (Tibetan Buddhism) get together . There are 86 places for religious activities, and many Emperors（ Sui Dynasty, Tang Dynasty, Qing Dynasty etc）have come to pray devoutly here and showed their respects.
